Five people are dead, including the suspect, and three others were hospitalized after a shooting in northern Kentucky. Officers with the Florence Police Department responded to a home on Ridgecrest Drive in Florence, Kentucky, around 2:51 a.m. early Saturday morning after receiving multiple reports of an active shooter at the residence. Upon arrival, officers said they found seven people suffering from gunshot wounds, four of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. The other three victims were taken to UC Hospital. They are currently listed in critical but stable condition. Police said the suspect fled the scene in a motor vehicle when officers arrived. Officers said they quickly located the suspect as he fled the scene near Farmview Drive and U.S. 42 and attempted to pull him over, leading to a chase. The chase ended on Dale Heimbrock Way near Hicks Pike after the suspect vehicle left the road and went into a ditch. Officers say they found the suspect had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified by police. The Florence Police Department’s Criminal Investigation and Crime Scene Units responded to the scene to investigate. Police say there is currently no ongoing threat to the public and the suspect acted alone. Officers said they saw the suspect quickly fleeing near Farmview Drive and U.S. 42. They attempted to apprehend him, and a chase ensued.
